Major: Culinary Science

Emanuel Prado was once told this advice: “If you have a passion and a dream, follow it and turn it into a reality.” That’s why he is planning to go to the Culinary Institute of America to pursue a career as a professional chef.

Food has always had a defining presence in Emanuel’s life. It’s the essential item at every celebration and gathering. It’s capable of bringing happiness and comfort to those who need it most. It’s a way he can give joy and cheer to his family and friends. With the SasserNation Foundation Scholarship, he’ll be one step closer to taking the culinary world by storm.

But Emanuel is not just interested in cooking for others. He is considering a degree in culinary science so he can learn methods of sustainable food sourcing and reducing food waste to help care for the environment. Culinary school will provide Emanuel with connections to chefs and restaurants that could lead him to job opportunities — something he’d miss out on if he tried to pursue a culinary career without a formal education.

The SasserNation Foundation Scholarship will ease the financial burden of turning Emanuel’s dream into a reality. With the weight of financial worry lifted off his shoulders, he’ll be able to focus on learning and moving forward in the food industry.
