As the daughter of a teacher, education has always played an important role in Nola Grace Wilson’s life. Nelson Mandela once called education “the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world.” Striving toward a career in pharmacy, Nola hopes to do just that.
Nola has had dreams of becoming a pharmacist since she was a young girl. She knew she’d need to pursue higher education to get there. The SNF Scholarship will help her reach her goal. Nola plans to ease the financial burden of postsecondary education with the scholarship.
She’s taken steps to make sure she’s prepared for higher education. She is enrolled in honors and Advanced Placement courses, with an emphasis on classes in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. One of those classes is a pharmacy technician course that will allow her to take an exam to become a certified pharmacy technician prior to her high school graduation. Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists while getting hands-on learning experience in the industry.
After graduation, Nola will attend Stephen F. Austin State University, where she plans to major in biology. She hopes to eventually enroll in pharmacy school and earn a doctorate of pharmacy degree.
